Rosso Corsa Records is an independent label based in Victoria, British Columbia, that releases synthwave and outrun-leaning electronic music.[1] It was founded by Michael Glover, who records as Miami Nights 1984, together with Garrett Hays, who records as Lazerhawk.[1] In the Frekvenci archive it has 38 listed releases from 19 artists, and the label's own site is still adding new ones.
What is Rosso Corsa Records?
The label's website puts its start at 2010 and describes it as an independent label for synthwave, outrun and electronic music.[2] Bandcamp Daily gives a longer account: according to Glover, the project began online in the early 2000s with a small group, tried to interest bigger labels, and was then relaunched as an independent label with help from a publisher.[1] The two dates are not in conflict if you read the 2010 as the start of the label as it exists today, but we could not confirm exactly what happened when, so treat both as the label's own telling.
Two names recur throughout. Hays says he set out to build "a palette of '80s sounds"; Bandcamp Daily lists Giorgio Moroder, Tangerine Dream and John Carpenter among the label's reference points, along with the French house acts Justice and Kavinsky.[1] Releases are sold through the label's Bandcamp page.[1]
Some fan pages credit the founders with coining "outrun". The Bandcamp Daily profile never uses the word, and no source we trust names a coiner, so we make the smaller claim: Rosso Corsa is one of the labels most closely tied to the outrun name. The community tags show it. Of its 38 releases, 25 carry the plain synthwave tag, 6 retrowave and 4 outrun. Our Outrun vs retrowave vs synthwave: are they the same? page sorts out the three names, and the Outrun music: the racing-game sound of synthwave covers the sound.
The catalogue in numbers
The archive's earliest Rosso Corsa release is from 2010, and the latest is from 2026. The label ranks 48th among all labels in the archive by listed releases, which makes it mid-sized: a long way behind the busiest synthwave labels, but with steady output over sixteen years.

Read the chart as a slow-burning label rather than a boom-and-bust one:
- 2012 is the peak, with 6 releases. That is the year of ActRazer's Classics, one of the label's early albums.
- Long, thin middle. Between 2014 and 2016 the label put out a single listed release a year. It did not chase the 2016–2018 boom in volume.
- A second bump in 2017–2018 (4 releases each) and again in 2021–2022 (4 each).
- A gap in 2020 and 2024. The archive lists nothing for those years. That can mean a real pause or a data gap, since catalogue databases fill in slowly.
The format split is album-heavy: 22 LPs, 8 EPs, 6 singles and 2 releases filed as other. None of the label's releases in the archive is marked self-released. Formats on file include digital, CD and vinyl. Every listed release has cover art.
Country is known for 73.7% of the label's releases, so read these as partial. Among those, artists from the United States lead with 10, then Canada with 6, Australia with 4 and Sweden with 3, followed by Israel, Argentina, Germany and France with one or two each. So the label is Canadian but its roster is scattered across continents.
What does it sound like?
Taking the label's own list of names and the record data together, the house sound is bright, melodic synthwave that leans on arpeggios and big lead lines: music for a coast road, not a horror film. The co-tags in our data back that up. Among the label's releases, 30 are also tagged electronic, 11 chillwave and 10 new wave, while the dark end of the genre family is missing. If you want heavy, distorted synthwave, Blood Music is a better address.
The edges are interesting, though. D/A/D's The Construct and Alex Lightspeed's Lost Future are filed as synth-pop, and Phaserland's Cosmic Boundaries as chillwave. Of the 38 releases, 35 sit in the synthwave family, 2 in the pop-leaning family and 1 in the dreamy one. That is a label with a clear centre and a little room around it.

- Miami Nights 1984 is the label's co-founder and its most frequent act, with 6 of his 10 listed releases here, including the 2026 EP DISK 1.
- Lazerhawk is the other co-founder, with 5 of 6 listed releases on the label.
- Jordan F, from Australia, has 4 releases here, out of 12 listed in the archive.
- Lost Years is Magnus Larsson from Sweden; a 2015 interview describes him as Rosso Corsa-affiliated and says his music was used in Kung Fury and in the series Red Oaks.[3]
- Highway Superstar and ULTRABOSS are the other repeat names.
The label's website also lists Mitch Murder among its past and present artists.[2] He is the Swedish producer whose music features heavily in Kung Fury, and who teamed up with David Hasselhoff on "True Survivor".[4] The archive does not list him among the label's top acts, so this is the label's own claim rather than something our data shows. Our If you like Mitch Murder: artists to try next page follows his sound, and If you like Lazerhawk: artists to try next does the same for the co-founder.
Records to start with
Eight records across the label's sixteen years, from the first listing to the newest EP.
- Lazerhawk · 2010 · Rosso Corsa Records · LPAn early outrun-leaning album from 2010 and the oldest record the archive lists on the label; fast arpeggios and open-road leads.
- Jordan F · 2011 · Rosso Corsa Records · EPA short EP from 2011 that shows how warm and hopeful the label's early sound could be.
- ActRazer · 2012 · Rosso Corsa Records · LPA 2012 synthwave album from the peak year, one of the label's early full-lengths.
- Highway Superstar · 2013 · Rosso Corsa Records · LPA full-length from 2013, melodic and song-shaped rather than purely instrumental.
- Betamaxx · 2017 · Rosso Corsa Records · LPFrom 2017, when the wider scene was at its busiest; polished, bright and cinematic.
- Lost Years · 2019 · Rosso Corsa Records · EPA 2019 EP from the Swedish producer, showing the label's connection to Sweden's scene.
- ULTRABOSS · 2022 · Rosso Corsa Records · LPA 2022 album tagged outrun; a lighter, more playful take on the sports-car imagery.
- Miami Nights 1984 · 2026 · Rosso Corsa Records · EPThe label co-founder's 2026 EP, the newest record in the archive on Rosso Corsa.
Is Rosso Corsa still adding records?
Yes. The archive counts a label as active when something is listed within the year before the 18 Oct 2026 snapshot, and the 2026 EP DISK 1 does that for Rosso Corsa. The label's website also lists Lords of Netscape by Miami Nights 1984 among its latest releases.[2] The pace is slower than the 2012 peak: two listed releases in 2025 and one so far in 2026, which is a part year.
Releases are sold through the label's Bandcamp page, so a record's archive page is the quickest way to its listen link. For the outrun list, see Outrun; on the radio, the Night Drive station (92.0 FM) suits it. Labels with a similar steady, small-batch rhythm are rare, so the best comparison is the opposite: RetroSynth Records, which releases at about five times the volume. The wider field is in Synthwave labels worth knowing, and which are still active.
