What we keep
Without an account: nothing that names you. We count that a track was loaded and which station it came from, and we do not store who did it, from where, or on what.
With an account: your name, your email, and the things you chose to keep — tapes, follows, saved pages, the nights you said yes to. That is the whole record.
What stays in your browser
Those five are browser storage, not cookies, and they are not sent anywhere. Neither is tx.consent.v1, which only remembers your answer to the cookie question. Clear your site data and they are gone, on this machine and no other.
Who else sees it
No advertiser and no data broker. There is no advertising network on this site and no social widget. The one optional exception is the analytics below, and it stays off until you say yes.
Artists see their own numbers in the backstage: listeners and tapes, by day, for their own records. They do not see who.
Analytics, only if you say yes
We may use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and which stations are played. It is opt-in: until you press Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics sets no cookies and records nothing about your visit.
If you accept, Google stores analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and receives the pages you open, the page that sent you here, your rough location (country or city, which Google works out from your IP address without storing the address), your device and browser type, and a few actions: playing a station or a track, a search term, a click on an artist’s store link, and signing up. No name, no email, no account id. Advertising features and Google signals are off, and Google keeps the data for at most 14 months.
Changed your mind? Use Cookie settings in the footer of any page and press No thanks. Google Analytics is then told to stop, and its cookies are removed.
The visit counter, for everybody
Separately from Google, the site keeps its own tally so we know roughly how many pages are read and stations played. It sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device and keeps no IP address or id. Each count holds only the page, the site that sent you here (its name, not the full address), whether the screen is a phone, tablet or desktop, your browser's time zone and language. Nothing in it can be traced back to you, so it needs no yes. It lives in our own database at Supabase.
Your copy
Ask and you get everything we hold about you as one file, usually within a day, because there is not much of it.
Ask us to delete it and we delete it, including the board posts if you want them gone. Records you put up come down the same day.
